Lighting Systems & Control
Lighting is one of the most powerful tools we have for creating an environment that supports worship, directs attention, and enhances the overall experience of a service. Good lighting isn't about putting on a show—it's about helping people clearly see what matters, creating visual consistency for both the congregation and our livestream, and supporting each element of the service without becoming a distraction.
At New Hope, all of our lighting is controlled through LightFactory, with every fixture—including our stage and house lights—communicating over a DMX network. This centralized system allows us to build consistent looks, automate lighting changes, and respond to the different moments of a service with precision and reliability.
Throughout this training, you'll learn the fundamentals of our lighting system, how LightFactory communicates with our fixtures, and the workflows we use to build, organize, and operate lighting during live services. By the end of this section, you should understand not only how to control the lighting system, but why we make the lighting decisions we do—using light intentionally to support worship, communication, and the mission of the church.
