We believe there is one very real and personal God who loves and cares for His creation. We recognize that while it’s a mystery how this all works that the Godhead is a combination of a Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit.
We believe the Bible is God's 'love letter' to humanity. Although written through people with the perspective of their own era, culture, and traditions, the Old and New Testaments were inspired by the Holy Spirit and therefore are our timeless and final authority in all that we believe and do.
THE PROBLEM OF SIN
In a phrase, sin could perhaps be summarized as “doing our own thing.” We were created by God to live in a love relationship with Him and our sin has greatly interfered with that. If we will turn from doing our own thing to paying attention to God’s agenda and receive His plan for life we can actually begin to really live.
Through Jesus, God fully revealed His extreme love for us and unveiled His plan and purpose to restore the world to Himself, rather than through a religious system. Through Christ's death and resurrection He made it possible for us to experience forgiveness and satisfy God's justice at the same time. Because Jesus was miraculously conceived by God and lived a sinless life, He died as a pure, sinless sacrifice to pay for our sins. Jesus rose from the dead after suffering our punishment and we can be made right with God by faith in Him.
The church is not a building. The church is a group of people who are committed followers of Jesus Christ. We are people who are attempting to live for God’s agenda rather than just doing our own thing - real people who are taking the next step with God’s help and enabling.
We actually do believe there is a real Satan (the devil) who is the personification of evil and the tempter we deal with on a daily basis. In some ways it seems as though we may be our own worst enemy as well, but that’s not really the truth. Satan has a way of trying to influence us to reject the God who loves us. We are all familiar with the temptation to do our own thing in life and try to forget God. Satan wears a thousand masks to keep us from recognizing his influence. Only God has the power to help us live in freedom from Satan’s influence.
